Authors Description

Cathy Sultan is the award-winning author of three nonfiction books: Beirut Heart: One Woman’s War; Israeli & Palestinian Voices: A Dialogue with Both Sides, and Tragedy in South Lebanon: The Israeli-Hezbollah War of 2006. The Syrian, a political thriller, is her first work of fiction. Sultan is also an activist who sits on the Board of the Interfaith Peace Builders, an NGO based in Washington, D.C. She has led several delegations to Israel-Palestine, and accompanied a delegation to Gaza in November 2012.

Sultan won USA’s Best Book Award and Best Autobiography of 2006 for A Beirut Heart; USA’s Best Books of 2006 in the category of History/Politics for Israeli and Palestinian Voices: A Dialogue with Both Sides; 2006 Midwest Book Awards-Honorable Mention in the category of Political Science for Israeli and Palestinian Voices; and Tragedy in South Lebanon was Nominated for Best Book of the Year in the Category of Political Science for 2008.
